Martha died on 30th May 2014 in the Hospice after a 7 month battle against Oesophageal Cancer with such courage and bravery that many of her friends found hard to believe. She had endured her suffering with such humility particularly over the last 5 weeks of her life but somehow kept up the wicked humour almost to the end. The Hospice Staff were fantastic in everything they did, and deserve all the support anyone can give them. A Hospital bed was moved into Martha's room for me for the last 8 days of her life which meant that I could spend all her remaining days and nights with her until her final merciful release. When I finally retire I have promised to do as much volunteer work for them as possible to repay them for all the amazing work they do.
